Fidlers round

Lester & Margaret Fidler Fund for Manitowoc County Crime Stoppers

Lester and Margaret Fidler lived their entire lives in the City of Manitowoc. Both worked for local companies, Lester at the Manitowoc Company and Margaret at Mirro Company. According to Richard Brey, a neighbor and close family friend, the Fidlers had an “ongoing concern for the welfare of the community.” That concern translated into a bequest from them, in 1993, to Manitowoc County Crime Stoppers. Income from that generous gift has provided operating support to Crime Stoppers over the years, thus eliminating the need for ongoing fundraising to sustain its crime fighting activities. Remembering the Fidlers, Mr. Brey commented, “the Fidlers’ gift reflects their values and priorities for the Manitowoc community.”

Manitowoc County Crime Stoppers is a citizen/police cooperative program designed to help fight crime in Manitowoc County. The program offers cash rewards to persons who call with information leading to the solution of major crimes or the capture of wanted persons. Those persons who report crime-related information via the tip line remain anonymous. Manitowoc County law enforcement agencies act as a clearing house for the program’s information.
