Capitol Civic Centre Endowment
In 1987, a community of volunteers and professional craftsmen painstakingly restored the historic Capitol Theatre, a 1921 vaudeville theatre and movie palace, into the Capitol Civic Centre. In 2013 and 2019, additional renovations were completed to the facility to increase lobby space, add bathrooms, and upgrade the auditorium.
The Capitol Civic Centre now presents national touring performers and serves as the home of more than a dozen arts organizations. The mission of this community treasure is to preserve, maintain, and operate an architecturally significant historic venue for the enjoyment of performing arts, arts education, and community activities. More than 30,000 people attend performances and activities at the Capitol Civic Centre each year.
The Capitol Civic Centre Foundation established an endowment to ensure this premiere performance venue remains a vibrant asset now and for future generations. Endowment funds are directed to the Capitol Civic Centre Foundation and are managed by the Lakeshore Community Foundation.
